The Maze Runner
The concept for the book The Maze Runner was to design a cover that reflects the setting of the story. The book is about male teenagers between 10-16 year old who are stocked inside a maze made out of big stone walls covered with vines and trees. They formed a society called “the Glade” composed of different groups. Each group has different roles, one of the group is called “the runners” and their responsibility is to inspect the maze with the mission of finding an escaping route.
Concept
The illustrations shows the book’s mystery as the maze changes its pattern often and becomes unpredictable. The action happens mostly during the nights and out in the nature. In order to achieve this, I decided to use dark colors, such as gray, black, navy blue, brown, & dark green to employ darkness, suspense and mystery. The illustration shows one of the runners named Thomas running through the maze or perhaps running away from something or a monster.
